DHEA and It’s Affect On Men and Women
...that over-the-counter DHEA supplements will have different effects in women as compared to men?
In women, the DHEA will likely convert to testosterone which can help with libido but can also cause acne, facial hair growth and male-pattern balding. Women usually need to keep the dosage down at 5-10mg daily. Blood levels should be measured before treatment.
In men, DHEA will most likely convert to estrogen. This can lead to weight gain, gynecomastia (breast enlargement), and also increase the risk of developing prostate cancer. Men should not take over-the-counter DHEA without consulting with an experienced health professional.
